A staggering 28.9% unemployment rate

While the state of Michigan has the highest unemployment rate of any state in the nation, the city of Detroit leads the way for cities.

For the month of July, the unemployment rate in Detroit stood at a staggering 28.9% — and that’s probably undercounted in the same way all unemployment figures are, due to the way such rates are measured. Still, it’s the highest rate ever on record for Detroit.

  1. I live here in the Detroit area and the unemployment is really bad. We have had high unemployment here for almost 10 years now. I'm a Master Electrician and belong to a trade union. We have had 2000 men and women electricians laid off continously since Bush became president. Houses are being foreclosed, crime is going way up. It's not a nice place to be these days!

  2. Yes, the "Collapse" seems to be here, just not widely advertised.
